           As a member of the Association of Legal Administrators, you have access to the resources provided by the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), as well as the local chapter, Sacramento Valley Association of Legal Administrators (SVALA).

      On the ALA Headquarters website, www.alanet.org, you have access to the Legal Management Resource Center (LMRC),  http://thesource.alanet.org, where you can get answers to your questions on topics such as facilities and operations management, financial, human resources, marketing, technology and information systems management. If you don't find the answer you need there, post your question on one of the forums, and get answers from other Law Firm Managers, local and .   Other sources are the ALA Management EncyclopediaSM (ALAME), http://alaencyclopedia.org, and the ALA Management Solutions Center, a full-time information and reference desk service available free to all ALA members.

      There are and regional conferences to attend that give you a great opportunity to enhance your career with educational seminars. You can get the training you need to take the Certified Legal Manager's exam, http://www.alanet.org/education/cert.html.

      SVALA has monthly educational luncheons on topics that concern you, as well as the opportunity to network with other local and regional Law Firm Managers. This website has a calendar of upcoming events to keep you informed of what's coming up.

      One way to become involved with your Local Chapter is by serving on the Board of Directors in one of many positions.      ALA has a Code of Professional Ethics, first published in 1991. The code is available online.

     The Bylaws of the Sacramento Valley Chapter are available online.

     All members of the Sacramento Valley Chapter must be members in good standing of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA). The eligibility criteria for ALA membership are established by ALA, and can be read here.
